Sierra’s mental health journey began in high school, during a time when she was learning to live on her own and navigate life without the support many young people take for granted. Those early years were filled with challenges that shaped her understanding of what it means to fight silent, internal battles. She learned firsthand how isolating it can feel to struggle in the dark, and how powerful even one moment of support can be.

As she continued her education, Sierra found her strength in college and later in university. Through her studies, personal growth, and lived experience, she began to imagine new ways to help others who felt overwhelmed, alone, or lost in their mental health journey. What started as a small idea soon grew into a meaningful project: a simple, accessible way to support people facing suicidal thoughts and emotional crisis.

An opportunity through the CoLab Press Start program encouraged her to take this vision seriously and helped her turn a concept into something real and impactful. With guidance, dedication, and the drive to make sure no one in her community felt unsupported, Sierra laid the foundation for a service built on compassion and understanding.

From this vision came Compass to Tomorrow Foundation, now an active and growing support space for people in Brant County. What began as one young woman’s personal struggle has become a place of safety, hope, and guidance for others. Compass to Tomorrow continues to honor Sierra’s belief that even in the darkest moments, every person deserves someone who will listen, care, and help them find their way toward a brighter tomorrow.

It all begins with an idea.
